Some of the best examples of science fiction were written long ago.  Jules Verne, a famous French author who wrote 20,000 Leagues under the sea, Around the world in 80 days, A journey to the center of the earth, and many others, is called the man who invented the future. Much inspiration for Steam Punk today is from Jules Verne’s oeuvre.
Another famous author, H. G. Wells, also wrote science fiction.  His book The War of the Worlds was performed on the radio and famously caused a mass panic because people believed that Martians had landed and were taking over the country.
