Food gets stored as fat as a survival tactic. In the past, humans and animals needed to store food as fat to survive when humans used to not have much food and had to hunt for it. This ability to store fat helped them survive when food was not available. But, today, we never really have issues where we can't eat for a long period of time, and now this storage can lead to health issues like obesity when people eat more food than they need. But, for many organisms, the ability to store food as fat is needed for survival during periods of food scarcity or hibernation.

Proteins are nutrients that are needed for the growth and repair of the body. When we consume proteins through food, our body needs to break them down into amino acids during digestion. Amino acids are then absorbed into the bloodstream and used by our cells to build new proteins. Without the digestion of proteins, our body would not be able to access what it needs for the growth, repair, and health of our tissues and organs. Digestion of proteins is needed to make sure that our body can use the nutrients we consume from any proteins we consume.
