<title>I actually think the issue stems from the students. I think often times we latch onto one thing that happened (i.e. the facebook event) and can&#39;t move past that. People say they are afraid about being called out and keep referencing that ONE event as a reason to not speak out. At students, we need to stop making excuses for ourselves about acknowledge that we are just uncomfortable and stop blaming admin, stop blaming the culture, look at yourself. Stop focusing on ONE thing that happened in the past and using it as a crutch. And by bringing it up, you are constantly shaming the people who reacted to the situation. We all do the best we can. </title>

<title>I agree with someone else&#39;s comment that this is a self-selected crowd - we need to integrate events like this, and the AC-led event, that facilitate face-to-face discussions that are mandatory for everyone. We need to initiate a culture from the beginning of the year that allows for genuine, person-to-person, sometimes uncomfortable conversations that can move us all forward and make our class more inclusive. </title>
