For this padlet I wanted to explore something more complex regarding the body in relation to our sense of self. Our bodies modify biologically over time, and this is a fearful fact as the womens beauty industry wants to stop the ageing process. It can be said that the feminine sense of self decreases with age, but the masculine sense of self can increase with age based on the value society places on either. I wanted to also correlate how the feminine face is a major feature of the body and relates to a woman's sense of self. In regards to the masculine, the LYNX deodorant targets the male market and promises things beyond just covering up bad odours to smell better. The LYNX product sells sex appeal and eludes that it will make you a more attractive person. Both the masculine and feminine bodies have social constraints and experience insecurities in their body which connects to their sense of self.

                                                                                . E M B O D Y M E N T .

What is the location of the self? We each have a body in which we experience life.We seem to be obsessed with changing our body physically to gain a greater sense of self but maybe we need to change it mentally. The way I view and understand my body and the way I treat and value my body are beyond merely an issue of catering to physical appearance alone. Perhaps there is something broken inside of myself that can not be treated externally by any products. There may be some things I cannot change about my body, but can I change my mind? What are my thought patterns about who I am and how I relate to the world around me? Is my sense of self aside from the external and the physical? How can I better myself? How does my personality relate to my body and those around me? What about my character, my values, my relationships? These are the questions I was exploring when collecting pieces for this padlet. The body changes passively or assertively as we experience life through our bodies. This impacts my sense of self.

Rather than featuring 20-somethings, Dos Equis aged up, making a star out of gray-haired journeyman actor Jonathan Goldsmith. In the campaign, he plays the debonair “Most Interesting Man in the World,” who has become one of the most revered ad characters of the century.

I included this piece because the campaign is not what the body is but what the body does. what life experience it has gained in order to what value that life has.
