My green home helps the environment because it includes a rain barrel system, eco-landscaping, locally sourced building materials and a green roof. Rain barrel systems are a system that collects and stores rainwater from a roof this is very beneficial when it comes to saving water. Eco-landscaping is the use of native and non-invasive plants around homes and businesses. Locally sourced building materials are the use of concrete, wood, steel, and other supplies from nearby sources rather than shipped in from far away. Green roofs are a roof that is partially or completely covered with vegetation and soil. These are all things that go into making a green home.
