1 Mid course correction happens a lot in third grade. It happen in math because they are getting to skills they need to remember and build on from year to year Addition and subtraction are always a time to reteach . You always have that one that forgot....:) 2. My students show understanding through oral answers, written and drawing at times.

1. One Mid Course correction I just realized I had to work on was the vocabulary for the comprehension piece of Reading 3D. When I asked my students to tell me the Big Idea of the story we were reading, I realized they didn't understand because we always ask what are the key details.
2. My students show understanding through a sight word pair/share activity, use white boards in math to show their work, and discuss with shoulder buddies their answers while I observe

1. I experience mid course correction almost daily. Kindergarten students all grow at very different rates
2. My students show their understanding through verbal communication, whiteboards, smartboard activity, computer programs, on assignments etc

1. During small group reading I have mid course corrections when a child decodes a word and they instantly have a story about it or ask what the word means.

2. To me the students show their reading comprehension this way because not only are they reading the word "fish" but they understand it as they have a story and connection to what they read. I think this is a great precursor to reading comprehension later.

1. I use mid-course corrections all the time in science! I love when that happens! One example is 2nd graders learning about the 3 states of matter using water as an example. This almost always escalates into a student-led discussion of the water cycle, and we end up going more in-depth than what the objectives expect!

2. I try to always have some kind of hands-on activity to encourage students to show their understanding of the objectives

1. I have mid course corrections daily as my students give input or ask different questions. They make me think of things differently or remind me of ideas I wanted to discuss. Sometimes I realize they do not have the background knowledge they need so I have to work backward.

2. Group discussions, pictures, diagrams, words, one on one discussions, hands on activities, etc.
