It is imperative that students can relate to what they are learning and more importantly feel as though they belong in their classroom space. Through the classroom community I create, students see various parts of their identities and cultures reflected in lessons and valued by myself and their peers. This fosters success and better learning outcomes for students, as they feel safe to explore and learn through trial and error! I want to instill a passion for learning inside every one of my students, which I believe I can do through my compassion and enthusiasm for education.

As a teacher, I believe it is my job to create a classroom environment where students feel accepted, comfortable making mistakes, and learn to be tolerant of differences. This way students can thrive, be creative, and take risks when it comes to their learning!
