#Homeostasis and stress have since provided powerful organizing principles, allowing numerous researchers to consider the effect of threats to a person’s well-being and the variety of ways that he or she can respond to these.

#His major contribution was in noticing that no matter what the stressor was, all such challenges called forth in the experimental animals (mainly rats) a consistent pattern of response, including a decrease in the size of the thymus gland and other immune system organs, ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract, and enlargement of the adrenal glands.
