One success that I am having right now is that I have an abundance of students asking to be in my Art 2 class, however I only have one section of Art 2, thus I must tell most of the students no. One challenge I am having is a lack of enthusiasm towards having all of my students submit at least one piece of artwork for the upcoming fair.

One challenge I've had is trying to teach linear perspective to my high school drawing students. Many students love it but many can't wrap their brains around it, especially my special ed students. I can't help all of the students who don't get it.
One success I've had is that restarted my National Art Honor Society this year and they are a great group of students. We have been mentoring a 4th grade class and also doing The Memory Project. My students are creating portraits of students from the lowest economic strata in Peru. I love working with the kids that love art!

Some students may be less confident, and feel uncomfortable having their work compared to more advanced students.
The fact Donnor used small, two student groups to assess, and interact is a good plan, as this created a "safer" environment for her students to work on the challenge of creating texture in their bird images.

My high today was realizing how my students really miss me when I'm not in class. I was gone two days and I got so.many heart felt words from my students expressing how doing their art in my absence not the same. I do inspire them, encourage them and make them feel.good about art. They care about me as a person not just a teacher and facilitator. Yay. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

My lows today were that while I was gone, the students did not get completed what I intended, my chromebooks got fried by a power surge, and the supplies I ordered weeks and weeks ago have not been approved yet. Argh sigh. But I'm still.glad to be back.

I really like the use of a large poster with a visual rubric. I often have students attempt a new technique prior to the artwork. But carry over is surprisingly absent. I find myself repeatedly reminding students about the preliminary practic or lead up activities asking them to apply that skill or technique to the current work. The carry over is lacking at times. The visual rubric provides a constant reminder and also a chance to go back and revise as needed during the artmaking process. I also like the fact that the student practice pieces can be used on the visual rubric.
