         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. The first point that resonated with me was the statistic where most teachers spontaneously associated ASD with behavioral difficulties and therefore had a negative bias towards inclusion. This reminded me of some of the first topics we discussed in this course (I believe it was week 1), where educators generally lack the support and training to manage behaviour challenges within the classroom<br><br>2. The second slide was the list of teaching strategies for children with ASD. While I have never taught in a classroom being in the HPE stream, I have experience working as a 1-on-1 support for a child with ASD at summer camp. I never received any formal training, so I was surprised to see many of the strategies I used/picked up from my peers listed on the slide today! I think that just goes to show that individualized attention for students with ASD and other disorders will only lead to success- the more time spent with a student, the more likely one is to pick up on strategies that work best for them. Unfortunately, in a class so large, this doesn't seem to often be possible.<br><br>- Allegra</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the things that resonated with me which were outlined in this presentation was the statement that although current legislations encourage the inclusion of all students, definitions of inclusion often fall short. I think this is notable because some might assume that inclusion solely means that all students are together in one classroom, which is partly true, but the important discrepancy is that all students are integrated into the learning process, whether learning processes are adapted or not.&nbsp;<br><br>Another aspect that resonated with me was the quote explaining that most teachers are not prepared to provide an inclusive experience to their students. This is definitely a big issue, especially for new teachers. I think many teachers rely on further training to feel confident in operating a 100% inclusive classroom.&nbsp;<br><br>-Danielle</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the presentation was very well presented and i think what resonated with me the most was the wish of inclusion for everyone and the current situation where inclusion could mean many different things. Also i think the fact that many educators do not feel comfortable planning another lesson plan&nbsp; for a student with ADHD especially with the current work load that they have. This is why more educational assistants or consultants are needed in classrooms.&nbsp; I think podcasts books and videos are helpful however we need to include the parents and the children themselves in the process of learning so they are interested. Perhaps it is simpler activites, perhaps movement breaks in sensory room if schools cannot afford a sensory room they should have quiet corner so to be able to offer the student to fo for walks or have quiet time with calming toy.<br><br>If all schools could afford sensory rooms that would be amazing and maybe grants needs to be written to get access  to funds for these types of learning tools as well as extra hand on materials in the classroom or extra classroom support </div>]]></description>
