Dear Me,

I know things feel kind of crappy right now. Some days are harder than others, and it can feel like nothing’s going right. But just take a second and remember — it’s not always going to be like this. Things will get better, even if it doesn’t happen overnight.

Honestly, I’ve come a long way. A few years ago, I was really struggling, and now I can see that I’ve actually made progress. I’ve been working on my mental health, and even though I’m not perfect (and don’t have to be), I’m still trying, and that counts for a lot.

I’m also starting to accept myself more — for who I really am. That includes my gender, my sexuality, and just... being me. And I’m proud of that. I might not have everything figured out, but I’m learning to be okay with that too.

I know I still have a lot of growing to do, and I’m going to keep working on myself. No matter what happens, I want to be kind to myself, because I’ve already survived so much — and I’m not giving up now.

You’ve got this. Just keep going.

My favorite teacher in this school (sorry Mrs. Carrier) is Mr. Fritz. He can make me laugh and makes my school day a bit more bearable. That doesn't mean he's my favorite class. He is probably one of the teachers I connected with the most over this school year. I'm a lot more talkative within his class and I feel accepted by him. He accepts their students as who they are, and it makes my life easier. I like all my teachers, but I've connected with him the most this school year.

My favorite classes are History, Band/Choir. I love learning about the past, always have and always will. I like the things that come with learning about war or how people would survive or didn't survive. It's like a reference to what we as humans have come from and how we've inevitably have become more advanced over time. But I also love band and choir just as much. I have always felt more free when I listen to or play music. And getting to have them as classes is a comfort because I can learn and hone in on playing and or singing, to become a better musician. It is something I love doing and I don't think I will ever stop listening or playing music.
