One concern I have is students going to other websites and ignoring what we're doing in class

Its always going to happen, with or without tech -- students looking at other books, writing notes, drawing pictures that don't pertain to what we're doing. Same issue, different medium. When we get to 1:1 you might want to consider arranging your room so that you always have an easy path to walk behind your students and see their screens. (And maybe some day the District will purchase the "teacher dashboard" so we can just silently close windows/tabs students shouldn't have open.) -- Keleigh

Will we be given extra chargers to have in the classroom in the event students don't charge their devices like they're supposed to?

I don't believe so. The Chromebook has the battery capacity to last all day, so IF they charge it at night, they won't need to charge mid-day. WHEN they don't do this, however, they have to live with the natural consequences. Its the same as when a student doesn't bring his/her textbook, pencil, pen, etc...they have to make do with whatever they can get. - Keleigh

By Voice I mean their vocal cords

Yes!! Tech-based discussions should not replace all verbal discussions. After we started to break up this morning, I was thinking a back channel might be neat to use in a Socrative Seminar or Fish-bowl discussion -- students are leading the discussions, viewers can post here, and we monitor, respond to, and prod students using this. -- Keleigh

Will we provide any digital citizenship training for students? Is that something that will be added to the student conduct contract they sign at the beginning of the year?

This is a great question. Something we need to become more cognizant about in our classes -- how do we conduct ourselves online (you'll see my statement below the title of this Padlet). But we need to have a conversation about this with students at the beginning of the year alongside our other class rules. We will also begin offering a tech class to teach students these concepts (to be taught by Doug Primus, I believe). - Keleigh
