This theme becomes evident through Leonard Gray. He abuses drugs, he has a list of enemies and is obsessed with guns. These are all clear warning signs that this kid needs help, but nobody recognized these signs or did anything to help him. You can see conflict this though Leonard Gray. There is obviously something fighting him inside because of his drug and antidepressant addiction. Leonard’s drug addiction can be seen when Mr. Ewings said “ He abuses the prescriptions?” and Cameron responds with “Whatever.” Another conflict Leonard Gray faces in this book is person vs. society. Leonard is bullied by other students a lot, so much so that this combined with his drug addiction led him to shoot up the school. You can see that Leonard is bullied on page 40 when Cameron says "A couple days after Len got back to school, Brad came up to him and said he was going to kick his ass.
