films that make you happy :) by juliaserranovh

I think each season has a feeling linked to it. Winter to me feels like christmas lights and freezing hands that meet eachother under a jumper. Spring is falling in love, and reading in a park. Summer is dancing in the rain, and long days, and joy. And while they are all great, AUTUMN will always be my favourite. To me autumn is the season of nostalgia, and remembering, hot cocoa, pink sunsets, old record players, and sunday nights in - reading or rewatching a film. I don't think there's anything that makes me happier. So... I'm creating a list of all those movies I always find myself going back to. Movies set in autumn. Movies that remind me of my childhood. Movies that make me truly happy. And I would love it if you could add yours!

These two meet on a drive to New York from uni, and lets just say they don't really hit it off at first. However, a few years later, they keep bumping into each other. Funny, and beautiful, with an amazing soundtrack. Their friendship, the way they're there for eachother - makes you wonder if men and women can't really be friends. Is it imposible? Or was Harry just wrong...
Because I honestly also want the rest of my life to start as soon as possible...

Heartbreaking and pure.
Mr. Keating arrives at a preppy boarding school and finds a group of kids, desperate to learn about life. And love. And freedom. He becomes their guide, and you'll want to be one of them. One of my go-to's whenever I want to snuggle in bed and feel something. Pain mostly.

"Poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."

Little Women (2019)

Any version will do, the one from 1949, 1994... They're all iconic. Family, love, friendship, and a weird sense of belonging, that's what 'Little Women' is to me. Based on Louisa May Alcott's masterpiece this film welcomes you into a family home, where the fire is always lit in the living room, and the whole place is filled with constant laughter. An accurate representation of life, leaving childhood, pain, loneliness... and Gerwig's point of view in particular is what (in my opinion) makes this film heartbreakingly pure. I wish I could see the world through her eyes... I wish everyone could. Oh to be a woman written by Greta...

ps: honourable mention to the unbearable pain of hearing Laurie say "I figured you'd love me" while his heart and soul shatters. just wow.

Studio Ghibli and a blanket is pretty much all I need on a cold november night, and Kiki is one of the safest choices. While some of Miyazaki's work can be heartbreaking Kiki's Delivery Service is a great feel-good movie. Beautiful, and wholesome, with (once again) a great soundtrack, this movie takes you through a young witch's new life. Friendship. Feeling useful. Finding one's true calling. Belonging.

"Jumanji" is a movie that has a special place in my heart. It's not just a story; it's an adventure that feels like it's part of my own life’s experience.
It isn't just a movie for me; it's a cherished journey back to my childhood. The first time I encountered this film, I was a wide-eyed kid, and it left an indelible mark on my heart. Every time I revisit it, I'm transported to a time when life was simpler, and my imagination knew no bounds.

As I watch "Jumanji," the memories of autumn come flooding back. I distinctly remember the scene where brown leaves blanket the ground, creating a captivating, almost magical atmosphere. Those vivid recollections of autumn are forever intertwined with the film, creating a sensory experience that's both nostalgic and heartwarming.

The film is like a journey through the seasons of my life, reminiscent of the colors of autumn. The vibrant landscapes and the cozy settings in Andy's room are reminiscent of the vivid memories I associate with my own childhood. It's a heartwarming reminder of the innocence and wonder that defined that period. "Toy Story" captures the essence of friendship, loyalty, and the enduring bond between Woody, Buzz, and the other toys. As I watch Woody, Buzz, and the gang, I'm reminded that, much like the toys in the movie, we all have a special place in our hearts for something that never grows old. "Toy Story" is a celebration of that enduring connection to the magic of childhood and the timeless values that shape our lives.

Donna wants to get away from her stressful life at work so goes travelling Europe and ends up in Greece. She falls in love there (many times) with people and the place. The sunshine, colours and happiness in the film make it inspirational. ABBA songs appearing every 5 minutes also make a very enjoyable watch, even with some heartbreaking moments. It also emphasises the strained relationship between mother and daughter as they both get older and forces you to reflect on your own growth and relationships with others.

Every time I watch it, it transports me to childhood. The funny paper of Dewey Finn, the main protagonist of the film and the one who teaches the children rock and roll makes the film very entertaining. Highly recommended!
