so people can understand to know if its happy or sad.

Henri Matisse shows this in his paintings because he uses colour and shapes to express his feelings

-The bowl, because it has a shadow which radiates light coming through the window.

-The window, because it reflects light coming in & gives it that happy & relaxing feeling

faith, hope and security during World War 1, when the Germans invaded various countries.

He didn't want to have people see sad, depressing events, he just wanted people to focus on

bright and joyful things.

The mood of The Egyptian is one vibrancy and happiness. This is reflected in the bright colours used throughout the artwork. The arrangement of 

objects used throughout the painting also express this happiness as you can see a bright fern outside the window, a lovely bowl of fruit and a vibrant curtain on the right of the work.

This is important because it leads the viewer to the focus point of the artwork. This is used to draw attention so that the important but less significant areas of the work can still be admired.
