We do not know each other and we have never met. But I am forever indebted to you for the legacy you have left behind. The Loyola Film Circle is a wonderful organization, and I have always been extremely proud to call myself one of its members. LFC helped me discover my love for film. Your legacy helped me find my place.

You may not know it, but you have changed the lives of so many people in the eighteen years after you founded LFC. You have given us all a place to call home.

Thank you for your films, thank you for this org, thank you for everything.

We don't know each other personally and I will never be able to meet you, but I am grateful for what you have created-- that is, an organization that has become a home and a place for me to express myself. The Loyola Film Circle has become a place where I have realized how much I love film, and I am one of the people that have changed because of this org.

LFC will forever be in my heart, and to you I will be forever grateful because this home ois a place where I have found friends and individuals who share the same passion.

I woke up today to news of your passing and though I'm not a terribly emotional person, I felt an overwhelming sadness. 

There are memories and decisions I have made in LFC that have really molded me into the person I am and have given me a sense of the person I want to be. I've made lifelong friends in the org whose brilliance have been so inspiring that I've dedicated a chunk of my time to understanding and appreciating film just so I can keep up. And in the process of doing so, I found that I had an affinity for the craft as well. 

I probably would not have these experiences and people in my life had it not been for your passion for cinema. And for that I am profoundly grateful for and indebted to your life and work.

I know you for directing Bwaya and for founding Loyola Film Circle. I've watched the film but more importantly I've experienced the organization you built. Thank you for the community that will always be my home. You may not know this but finding that home and letting myself grow there saved my life and gave it a turn for the better.

I think I only met you in brief passing, at least once or twice. And in those moments, I was usually the shy awkward person at the back, smiling in awe. I knew you were something great and amazing. 

I remember struggling a lot in college with my emotions and identity. And it was really hard to find constants, but I'm thankful that LFC made itself available for me to love, to grow, and to inspire; which, in other orgs, I wasn't able to experience.

Although I haven't had the time to go back into production, LFC has taught me values that would carry me today. It gave me friends that I see every Thanksgiving or those random meet-ups. And it gave me a sense of belongingness and identity. I am truly proud to be part of LFC, and we are truly proud to have you as our founder.

LFC also made me realize that there is hope for Philippine cinema. And surely, it will only get better as time goes by. We will not let you down, sir. We will continue to promote the industry in our own little ways.

Thank you for the opportunity you have created for people like us.

I never met you and I never would have had the chance to tell you what I'm about to say.

I hope you know that there are people in MVP 308 who huddle together to watch movies on a second-hand television, who laugh together and talk about the Oscars in heightened voices, who fumble about campus holding cameras framing things to adapt different styles of cinematography. There are people who have made memories, pursued passions, and found lasting friendships because of the organization you founded. A thousand resounding thank yous for what you've created.
