1. Nuralizah binti Arman (BN21110100) : Group leader
2. Yusnizah binti Mohd Yusof (BN21110148)
3. Nurul Syafiqah binti Datu Sapri
(BN21110048)

1. What is ecosystem and why it is important?
Ecosystem is an environment or space by which all living and non-living organism live and interact with each other so that able to maintain a natural and good condition of environment. Healthy ecosystems clean our water, purify our air, maintain our soil, regulate the climate, recycle nutrients and provide us with food. They provide raw materials and resources for medicines and other purposes. They are at the foundation of all civilisation and sustain our economies.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
A significant quantity of nutrients, water, and energy are taken from the land during crop harvest. As a result, the ground becomes dry and unsuitable for the growth of fresh organisms and ecosystems. Moreover, the uncontrollable utilisation of chemical substances in agricultural activities would possibly leads to pollution.

3. Elaborate 3 factors affecting our ecosystem
1) A grow world population which increase food production could lead to extinction of flora and fauna
2) Urbanisation destroyed forest and lead to disasters such as landslides
3) Uncontrollable chemical substances utilisation leads pollutes water, air and soil.

4. Suggests how to improve/maintain the ecosystem
We can reduce our carbon footprint by using renewable sources of energy, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. We can also reduce the use of fossil fuels by carpooling, using public transportation, and walking or biking whenever possible. We also can educate others about the importance of protecting the environment and how they can make a difference. We can also promote sustainable living practices by sharing information about eco-friendly products and services.

Conserve Energy by creating simple habits like turning off lights and appliances when they're not being used will add up. In winter, reduce your need for heaters by adding an extra blanket to your bed at night and closing doors to rooms not being used. When buying appliances, optimize for energy-saving models.

Start Composting because composting organic matter reduces landfill waste and creates healthy soil to feed our garden. We can use many easy compositing systems at home, including bokashi bins, worm farms and composting tumblers. Look for a local curbside or drop-off composting program if you don't have a green thumb or a garden.

Try Eco-friendly Products where shop for products that don't use harmful chemicals either during their manufacture or in the actual product themselves. Eco-friendly personal hygiene products and cosmetics have the added benefit of being better for your health as skin is the largest organ in the human body and highly absorbent. Additionally, help reduce landfill waste and excess rubbish by selecting reusable items rather than disposable.

Ecosystem is a group of organism that interact with each and other and their environment in such a way to preserve the group. It is important in order to provide habitat to wild plants and animals. It provides many of the services that human rely on for their survival for example clean water, pollination, carbon storage.

2. Every organism follow this food chain by depending on another organism. Each food chain is a possible pathway that energy and nutrients can follow through the ecosystem. For example, grass produces it owns food and grasshopper will eat the grass. If one organism is removed from the food chain, it spoil the flow of energy and nutrients, as a result it will disrupts the balance of the food chain. The organism that depend on the others for food will die due to the starvation.

3. Three factors that affecting our ecosystem are human factors, climate changes and urban development. Human factors affecting ecosystems include land clearing for agriculture. Besides, climate change can also affect ecosystems by reducing the availability of water and increasing temperature. Next, urban development converts healthy, productive ecosystems into large areas with little biological activity.

4. -Managing good water sources by conserving water.
-Minimise the product that can impact the ecosystem, such as reducing waste of consumers good.

Many food waste materials including corn sticks, tea, and other leftovers from a meal involve in a decomposition which contributes in a nitrogen cycle. Nitrogen is important in terms of plant's growth.
3)Food production has the largest impact on the ecosystem. After food production the significant amount of nutrient, water and energy will be taken from the land to make the land barren and not suitable to grow and develop new organisms. The expansion of agricultural land became difficult and the farming land disappeared because of land degradation.
4)The ecosystem can be maintain and improve by manage the natural resources carefully. We also can plant a tree to help us have a clean air and help to combat the climate change. Next, we can use a reusable shopping bag to reduce the usage of plastic bag that will bring a pollution due to long time to decomposed. Other than that, we also can make a sustainable food to decrease the waste.

What is ecosystem and why it is important?
Answer: An ecosystem is a group of organisms that
interact with each other and their environment
in such a way as to preserve the group. Ecosystem comtains hiotic or living organisms, or nonliving organisms or abiotic factors. The organisms are like plants, animals, and other organisms as well as the weather and landscape that work together to form the bubble of life.

Ecosystem is important because it provides habitat to organisms like plant and animals. it also supports different food chains and food webs. it regulates all essential ecological processes to support lives like the recycling of nutrients between biotic and abiotic components in that ecosystem.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
Harvesting the crop represents a significant amount of nutrients, water, and energy being taken from the land. This leaves the land barren, and unfriendly for the growth and development of new organisms and ecosystems. This is especially true of land used for industrial monoculture farms.

3. Elaborate THREE (3) factors affecting our ecosystem.
Light - Sunlight is factor affecting our ecosystem as it is one of the source of energy. Plants use sunlight to perform photosynthesis.

Climate change - It can affect the ecosystem from the climate change in response by human activities. For example, when a forest is explored it will disturbed the ecosystem cycle and promote climate change.

Urban development - This activity can affect our ecosystem as it can cause a huge conversion of an area such as road or building development. This development may lead to a change in habitat of species.

4. Suggest how to improve/maintain the ecosystem?
- provide protection to wildlife by planted more trees throughout the country
- reduce the usage of CFC products as it will affects the ecosystem causing global warming
- live a sustainable lifestyle by practicing 3R (reduce, reuse n recycle)
- conserve water

Ecosystem contains biotic and abiotic factors. Ecosystem is important because it provides habitat to wild plants and animals. Beyond that, ecosystem promotes various food chains and food webs which help to maintain the balance of ecosystem.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
The food production industries will cause a large scale of environmental degradation. In order to produce a large amount of quality vegetables, the farmers will require chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The chemical substances will flow into the soil and water which causes the water pollution. Other than that, the food production will create some environmental contaminants that can have adverse effects on the health of humans and the ecosystem. These contaminants include ammonia pollution and the emission of nitrogen compounds that disrupt the soil as well as animals and plants.

3. Light duration also affects the behaviours of plants, animals and insects. Light also affect the photosynthesis of the plants.

b. Temperature. Temperature affects the relative humidity and water availability. It also influences the biodiversity of an ecosystem.

c. Water. Animals and plants need water to survive. Water in the ecosystem is to provide the lifeblood of the community.

4. Suggest how to improve/maintain the ecosystem?
First way to improve the ecosystem is reducing the plastic which is very contaminating. When we go to the supermarket, we can take our own recycled bags instead of plastic bags. Besides, reforestation is able to provide benefits to the ecosystem. This is because reforestation can help to preserve species native to the area and reduce the greenhouse effect by removing the carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen. In addition, we need to reduce the application of pesticides. This is because pesticides can contaminate the soil and water. Lastly, less consumption of power can save the ecosystem. This is because it can reduce pollution and the ecosystem can be improved.

TING DIING YIENG (BN21110085)

1. What is ecosystem and why is it important?
An ecosystem is a group of organisms that interact with each other and their environment in such a way as to preserve the group. Each ecosystem has its living and non-living things. It is important because it cleans our water, purifies our air and maintains our soil to provide raw materials and resources which are the foundation of all civilisations.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
Food production affects our ecosystem in many ways. Aside from the obvious such as deforestation and pollutants that are stemmed from this phenomenon, another dire consequence is that it leaves the land barren as it is stripped of its nutrients, energy and even water to a sizeable extent just to produce the food that we eat. This in turn leaves much to be desired, particularly for the growth and development of both the organisms and the ecosystems.

3. Elaborate THREE (3) factors affecting our ecosystem.
- Climate change. An increase in greenhouse gases can increase the global temperature which can lead to global warming. Then, it will cause the melting of glaciers, rising sea levels and change the weather pattern. Thus, the species will migrate to other regions and change the ecosystem cycle.
- Habitat destruction. For example deforestation, agricultural expansion and urbanisation. These activities can destroy habitats and disrupt the ecosystem. In the end, the species lose their habitat and migrate to other areas.
- Natural disasters. For example wildfires, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, can destroy the natural habitat and change the physical environment. Besides, it causes the death of the species and thus decreases the species' population. Then, it will affect the food web and then affect the ecosystem.

4. Suggest how to improve/maintain the ecosystem?
The ecosystem can be maintained by reducing the carbon footprints that account for the increase in global temperature. By rapidly cutting emissions of greenhouse gases, the fast pace at which global warming and climate change can be slowed down or even halted. Besides that, proper waste management is also one of the ways to improve the ecosystem as pollution is one of the biggest threats to the ecosystem. In addition, soil conservation maintains the ecosystem. This is because the soil is a vital component in an ecosystem as it performs a lot of key roles in supporting life such as providing habitats to the microbial communities and facilitating the nutrients cycle. Hence, soil conservation such as reforestation and afforestation should be implemented to maintain or improve the ecosystem.

What is ecosystem and why is it important?
An ecosystem is a community or collection of living things that coexist in and communicate with one another in a particular habitat and also interact with non-living things. Ecosystems are crucial for giving living things a place to live and recycling the resources they require to do so, such water.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
A sizable amount of nutrients, water, and energy are extracted from the soil during crop harvest. Due to this, the land becomes arid and unsuitable for the emergence of new creatures and ecosystems. Ecosystems are impacted by modern agriculture in a number of ways. Significant soil disturbance is caused by ploughs, which also offers favorable circumstances for annual crops that grow quickly. The soil structure is harmed by repeated ploughs, and the protective layer of plant matter is also removed.
-Climate change. Every ecosystem is capable of adapting to changing environmental conditions. Yet, after being impacted by human activity, an ecosystem is less resilient.
-Urban development. Healthy, productive ecosystems are destroyed by urban growth, leaving behind vast expanses devoid of biological activity. This can include parks, lawns, and gardens as well as roads, buildings, and pavement, where several native plants are eliminated to make room for a select few alien species.

4.

1. What is ecosystem and why it is important?
Ecosystem is a biological system that included the biological community that interacting the organisms each other with their physical environment. Ecosystem is important because its providing the habitat for the wild plants and animals.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
There is many ways how food production affect our ecosystem. One of that is, crop harvesting which involves removing a significant amount of soil energy, water, and nutrients. As a result, the soil becomes dry and difficult to the emergence of fresh creatures and ecosystems. Particularly significant here is land utilised for large-scale monoculture agriculture.Due to the various ways that soil affects and is influenced by plants, they are particularly harmful to soils. When diverse crops are cultivated side by side, the soil's quality can be enhanced. With monocultures, this does not occur, leaving the land devoid of vegetation and unfit for human habitation after harvest.Other than that, food production needs a lot of fresh water, which can put a lot of pressure on the environment in places where there is a shortage. It consumes water as an input and releases nutrients that contaminate rivers, lakes, and seas.

3. Elaborate THREE (3) factors affecting our ecosystem.
- Biotic factors include animals, plants, animals, and their interaction with the environment such as grazing, predation, invasive species, etc.
- Abiotic factors include temperature, pressure, light, humidity, earthquake, volcanic eruptions, etc.
- Pollution and destruction of natural habitats have some major influences due to human activities.

4. Suggest how to improve/maintain the ecosystem?
-cLowering use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural activities. By lowering the use of it such as just using it not exceeding the recommended use, we can lower the risk of it contaminating the soil and polluting the river, ocean, etc.
- Campaign of awareness of the importance of the ecosystem, the impact of damage to the ecosystem and ways how to conserve our ecosystem to people. This is to encourage people to be more sensitive about how important are our ecosystems for now and for the future.
- Educate people how to reduce the air pollution. For example, practices like sharing a vehicle to the same destination capable of lowering of air pollution where if the total of vehicle reduced on the road absolutely the total of contaminants that released into the air is also very little hence can improved our ecosystem.
- The authorities should give punishment to the individuals involved in illegal deforestation activities because not only disturb the ecosystem, but also destroy the wildlife habitat in the affected area. In fact, there were glimpses of wild animals approaching the residents' homes including destroying their crops and fields.

They supply raw materials and resources for pharmaceuticals and other uses. They are the foundation of all civilisations and the lifeblood of our economies.

2. Food production and ecosystem are interdependent to each other. Such as where human health, climate change, soil quality will be significantly affected when there's a significant alteration towards food production such as post-harvest food losses.

3. First factor is light. Many organisms depend highly on light as a source of energy especially producers which is plant to undergoes photosynthesis. Second factor is temperature, optimum temperature also highly influences the optimum growing condition of living organisms. Third factor is water, the amount of water available also highly affects the existing cycle in the ecosystem as well as the living condition of organisms.

4.

Group members:
Arthur Ng
Muhammad Dhan Dhan
Nur Syuhadah
Anus Nabilah

Activity 1
1. What is ecosystem and why is it important?
- An ecosystem consists of all the living and non-living things in a specific natural setting. Plants, animals, insects, microorganisms, rocks, soil, water and sunlight are major components of many ecosystems. It is also defined as the interaction between organisms and the surrounding environment.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?
-	It contributes to global warming, which can alter the ecosystem in a variety of ways. A quarter of all GHG emissions worldwide are attributable to the production of food, with the majority of those emissions coming from methane produced by cattle. The digestion of carbonaceous food by ruminant animals results in the production of volatile fatty acids, which the animal uses as a source of energy. Unfortunately, a by-product of this process is the production of methane, which the animal then releases into the atmosphere.
-	Additionally, it leads to the repurposing of land, which disturbs the ecosystem already present there. On terrain that was formerly covered in forests and jungles, there are now several farms raising cattle and sheep. What was once a significant carbon sink is now a potent producer of GHGs as a result of this deforestation. This action has a major negative effect on the environment.

3. Elaborate Three (3) factors affecting our ecosystem.
a) Climate Change: Climate change is one of the most significant factors affecting our ecosystem today. Rising global temperatures, changing weather patterns, and increasing weather extremes are altering ecosystems in ways that affect plants and animals, as well as the physical environment. For example, melting glaciers and ice sheets result in rising sea levels, which can cause flooding and erosion in coastal areas. Climate change also affects ecosystems by changing the timing of seasonal events such as migration patterns, flowering times, and animal hibernation.

b) Pollution: Pollution is another major factor affecting the ecosystem. Human activities like industrial production, transportation, and even household activities such as the use of fertilizers and cleaners, can result in the release of harmful substances into the environment. Polluted air, water, and soil can be detrimental to the health of plants and animals, leading to mutations, diseases, and death. The pollution also disrupts ecological balance which further leads to the collapse of the ecosystem.

c) Human Activities: Human activities such as deforestation, habitat destruction, and overfishing are having a significant impact on our ecosystem. For instance, deforestation leads to loss of habitats for wild animals, affecting their food availability and their chances of survival. Overfishing leads to a decrease in the population of fish in the ocean, which has a cascading effect on the entire food chain, which further affects the already disturbed environment.

4. Suggest how to improve/ maintain the ecosystem.
a) Reduce the amount of waste that produced. To protect natural resources and landfill space, adhere to the 3 “R”’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle)
b) Plant a tree. Besides providing food and oxygen , trees helps in saving energy, cleaning the air and helping combat in climate changes

What is ecosystem and why it is important?

An ecosystem is the biotic (living) elements which interact with each other and their abiotic (non-living) environments in a particular area or habitat, such as plants, animals, microorganisms, air, water, soil, climate, and other physical factors which provide benefits, or services, to the world. Ecosystems are important because they provide numerous ecological services that support life on Earth, including human well-being. Understanding and valuing ecosystems is essential for their conservation, sustainable management of natural resources, and ensuring a healthy and sustainable planet for future generations.

2. How is food production affecting our ecosystem?

Food production has a substantial environmental and ecosystem impact. Here are some of the ways that food production effect our ecosystem. Agriculture demands a large quantity of land, which can result in deforestation, habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss. Natural habitats are being destroyed as more land is cleared for agriculture, forcing species to relocate or face extinction. Second, agriculture is a major user of freshwater, which can have a considerable impact on local water resources. Irrigation has the potential to deplete groundwater supplies and enhance soil salinization. Furthermore, agricultural runoff can transport fertilisers and pesticides into rivers and lakes, causing pollution and eutrophication. Another way that food production can affect our ecosystem included green house gas emissions, soil pollution. Overall, food production has a substantial environmental and ecosystem impact, and it is critical to consider sustainable farming practises to mitigate these impacts.

3. Elaborate 3 factors affecting our ecosystem.

- The Earth's climate is changing as a result of human activities like burning fossil fuels and deforestation, resulting in increased temperatures, rising sea levels, and altered precipitation patterns that can negatively impact ecosystems.

- Urbanization, agriculture, and infrastructure development can lead to the loss of habitat and fragmentation, resulting in a reduction of biodiversity and decreased resilience of ecosystems.

- Pollution in various forms, such as air, water, and soil pollution, can have detrimental effects on ecosystems and the organisms that live in them.

- Overfishing, hunting, and other types of overexploitation can cause resource depletion, which can lead to declines in species populations and a decrease in overall ecosystem health.

4. Suggest how to improve/maintain the ecosystem.

1. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.
2. Reduce deforestation, which will further help in the reduction of pollution.
3. Conserve water and reduce wasting of water.
4. Reducing the use of chemical pesticides.
5. Planting more trees.
6. Switching to renewable energy in the household.
