Feminism is all about the belief that women are treated less than men, and that it is a movement to empower them in society, and cease the stereotypes within the nation. In the excerpt of the novel, August describes the queen bee as the mother of thousands, in the sense that she sits around all day laying eggs. The other bees in the hive expect her to continue the same routine every day to keep the hive thriving, and it becomes a stereotype of sorts for queen bees to do what they've always done. Which is exactly what started the feminist movement

The queen bee is the most important role in the beehive. Her main job is to lay eggs for the hive to reproduce, which relates to feminism, because she is seen as doing only one thing. Feminists want to be treated equally and be able to do the same things men do, however the queen bee is restricted to one job. The house of women relate to a bee hive because each woman has their own job which allows it to run smoothly.

The house is representative of a bee hive, because similarly to a bee hive, all of the members of the Boatwright house depend on one another, with August representing the queen. In the house, May can be seen as the bee that is cleaning the hive, and taking in the sorrow. Feminism is represented with the lack of men in the house, allowing the women to be self dependent.

In the passage everything revolves around the queen, and they do everything for the queen. In the text it talks about the difference of jobs in bees, and how they do their jobs to fufill the queen. This relates to the house as August is the queen who provides for Lily, May, August, and June. This also relates back to feminism as women need support from all females to empower themselves, and through this house of women we see this. And women will all work together to overcome disadvantages when given the support, and strength from others. Such as in the winter when bees vibrate to keep warm. Women support each other to thrive by empowering each other. Thats why the house is considered a beehive.

the queen is the most important role in the hive, but she only has that one job. this could relate ti feminism because some men may think that women can only do one job. the pink house could represent a beehive because august would be the queen, and may would be the one that cleans, and june would be the one that works outside of the hive. lily would be the one that goes out and makes the honey. rosaleen could represent a worker bee.bees work well together to get the work done efficiently, just as the women in the pink house do.

May could be considered a queen bee because her surrounding family all constantly makes sure that she is okay. If May is sad all of her family surrounds her and tries to help. A beehive cannot function without a female which is true for humans as well. "I'd learned enough about beekeeping to know that a hive without a queen was a death sentence for the bees"

The queen and the beehive relates to feminism in this novel because it demonstrates how the entire hive wouldn't be able to function without it's queen, a female. The pink house can be considered a metaphor for a beehive with the black Mary as the queen. In the text it says, " You can see them always circled around her, fussing over her. I've even seen them caress her." This connects to the Daughters of Mary gathering around the carving and treating it with reverence.

Back then not only was there segregation but there was sexist people. The Queen can relate to feminism because she is the mother of all of the bees and she is a women in charge. The house can be considered a metaphor for a bee hive because Mary is in the pink house, and they worship her, as to the bees worship their queen. Mary is also considered mother of all, and everyone who lives in the house, August, Lily, May, Rosaleen, and June, all worship and complete their jobs to satisfy the queen.

The way that August describes the roles of a hive is similar to the social structure of the house. Of course one of the more obvious comparison is August to a Queen Bee. She is the oldest and wisest of them all and she, in a way, teaches everyone in the house about life. Whenever Lily is in need of help, August is always there to comfort. (Oops meant to change answer, sorry)
