I took inspiration from The 1975's digipak as I like the monochromatic colour scheme, also the design and layout is simplistic and works for their genre.
This digipak also clearly shows the conventions needed when creating one. These would include the album name and artist name on the front cover with a relevant image. A colour scheme that follows through the entire digipak, as well as a track-list, copyright information and the album name and artist name on the CD disc.

Rihannas digipak for 'loud' influenced my ideas as I like the design for the front cover, which is a close up of her face and includes the album and artists name in a font that is used throughout the digipak as well as the accompanying Cd advert.
I also like the 3 panel inside that this digipak has, which contains a photo of her laying in a rose bush. The design of the CDs have pink roses which contrasts nicely to all of the red that is on the digipak.

I used a photo of the artist on the front cover with a plain backgorund, which for the genre is typical.

In Katy Bs video for on a mission there is a scene with a mixer, my group and I took inspiration from this and decided to use a mixer in the video. Having a mixer in a music video is also a typical convention for the dub-step music genre

Carol Vernallis Theory

Vernallis' theory is that in music videos the editing is done to the beat of the song, which is very different to tv shows. In my music video, there is fast paced editing and quick cuts which are done to the beat of the song and helps to keep up with the songs pace.
Also, within the music video there is a balance between performance and narrative, which is shown through the artist singing in the studio and in the bathroom at the club but also dancing with a crowd in a club.
There will be obvious edits used within the music video, which will be through the form of colour grading and manipulation of the speed in certain areas to either make them slower or faster to match the beat of the song.
Within the music video, conventions from real videos from the genre are used, as well as conventions from this theory.
The music video also develops Vernallis' theory by having a narrative resolution at the end, which is the artist leaving with a guy from the club.

Andrew Goodwins Theory

Part of Goodwins theory is that music videos follow the lyrics of the song instead of being completely different. Also the artist/singer plays a character and narrator, as well as being a performer. The artist also breaks the 4th wall looking into the camera which helps the audience connect with the artist.
In my music video, the 'singer' used acts as both narrator and performer which is shown through her singing in a studio and bathroom.
Within the music video the lyrics aren't followed completely, although the line 'I try to push past but he wants to play, so I sip his drink while I hold his gaze' is, which is shown through the artist acting out the line in a club scene.
The music video contains studio scenes as well as 'club' scenes, which are also repeated images and conventions from real music videos.
A convention that gets challenged would be that the women used within the music video are not shown as objects of desire, which is a typical convention of a lot of music videos especially in the genre used.
The music video created would fall into the amplification category stated by Goodwin.

Laura Mulveys Theory

Mulveys theory is that women are 'dismembered' in all forms of media, with the only focus being parts of their bodies, whereas men are shown as a whole. Mulvey argues that this is responsible for some women's focus and obsession with specific parts of their bodies.
In my music video women are not 'dismembered' by he camera, although in this genre it is a typical convention. This shows that the music video created challenges Mulveys theory as well as music video conventions.
Also, the 'singer' challenges conventions of real music videos, as she does not get 'dismembered' or portray herself provocatively. The 'singer' also appeals to girls in the audience through her outfit, makeup, etc.

Ed Sheerans advert for '+' inspired me as I like the simple design and layout he used, as well the minimal colour scheme. His advert is mainly orange which is a colour associated with his image, due to him having ginger hair. This advert also includes all of the normal conventions of a CD advert like the artists name, album title and the release date.

Jessie J's digipak for 'who you are' inspired me as I like the simplicity of it, which also fits in with her genre and the image she has.
The layout of the front cover has a nice layout, with the photo of her and the album and artists name placed at the bottom of the cover. Her name is sized bigger than the album name so that people will clearly know who its by.
An element of her digipak at I like would be that she has her facebook, twitter and website on the back. I think this is a nice idea as it lets her fans as well as anyone that buys the album what her social media is so that they can see more of her and connect more.

I was also influenced by Lordes digipak for 'pure heroine'. I like how the outside of the digipak is dark, has a simple design and is monochromatic which also carries on to the inside but in reverse on the CD disc.
The outside is quite unconventional as it doesn't contain any photos of the artist or anything associated with her.

Jessie Js CD advert influenced my own ideas as the design and layout are quite simple, with only a photo of the album cover and some text being the only elements. Also a specific colour scheme was used throughout the CD cover and advert, which is something I used for my own.
