It can help them enhance their skills, confidence and abilities.&nbsp;They were able to become part of a group and feel like a community.<br>Connection: I had an ELL student who had just moved from Syria and spoke little to no English. My teacher said reading and flash cards will help the student enhance their English abilities. I think having an online presence would've helped her interact and adjust more.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;An observation that I had about the article that I liked was the point on page 611 where they are talking about how online environments can create an identity for the student that “facilitates the kind of posturing, performance, and social interaction necessary in adolescent’s identity construction process.” I often forget that a students building up their identity lens involves their presence online and how not being connected to or making a personal profile can hinder the way that they are socially accepted within their peer groups—potentially. <br><br>Connection: One thing that always surprises me is when we are talking about the importance about digital literacies being incorporated in the classroom and then there is one teacher or a few teachers who shy away from this, and think it isn't <em>that&nbsp;</em>important. I think that it is very important to be able to give our students the tools to use an educated lens when sifting through the millions of information available to them at their finger tips.&nbsp;<br><br>Surprise: </div>]]></description>
