2. Consider the key takeaways in this inquiry about that transdisciplinary theme.

3. Review the central idea you have chosen.

•How might it be improved to better connect to and develop conceptual understanding in relationship to the transdisciplinary theme? 

4. Write three or four versions of the central idea you have chosen and select the one that best enables inquiries that maintain wonder and dig deeper into the following.

•What if?

•Why? Why? And really why? 

5. Reflect on the current lines of inquiry for the unit.

•Would you still support the unpacking of the new central idea and the development of conceptual understanding within it?

•What other conceptual understanding may need to be developed to support the central idea?   

6. Write three new lines of inquiry or revise your current ones and consider the following questions as a guide. 

•Are they developmentally appropriate? 

•What knowledge (factual, procedural) and concepts (specified and others) are necessary for students to be able to explore the central idea? 

•How else might the central idea be explored?

7. Post your before and after versions of your central idea and lines of inquiry.

8. Gallery Walk Review the contributions of others and comment on two other participants’ revisions. Make note of the possible changes you have considered in the appropriate section in your unit planner. 

Throughout this engagement you will be adding to the spiderweb using information from the planner. The spiderweb will help determine where gaps might be for developing conceptual understanding. 

2. Write the central idea in the middle of the spiderweb. In the appropriate place add subject areas that currently and might in the future support ideas related to supporting the development of the central idea and or concepts within it, eg language, maths, science, social studies, arts.

Also, note any concepts as well as subject specific knowledge and skills and concepts you hope learners would develop and use as part of your inquiry (as they relate to the centre of the hexagon).

3. Using your planner as your guide, note on the outside of the spiderweb, in the appropriate area, specific engagements, activities, assessments, etc. from your planner that currently support and scaffold the development of conceptual understanding

4. Consider learner needs and add new ideas to all the other areas of the spiderweb (learning experiences, assessments, space, etc.)

5. Reflect on the connections you have made. How might you enhance an area of the spiderweb to further develop conceptual understanding within the unit? 

Add any ideas and reflections onto your existing unit planner that relate to this unit. 

6. Share your web through a gallery walk. Use post its for feedback/questions.

7. In groups, review the contributions of others and comment, taking into account, the following prompts:

•What else might be included?

•What might have been missed?

•What other suggestions could be offered?
