Looking at the chart over the years of 1950 and 2007 the percentages of the population living in cities in Africa, Asia, Latin America/Caribbean almost doubled from 15% to 37%, 17% to 41% and 42% to 76%. In the same period in Europe, North America and Oceania it only increased to 21%, 15% and 9%.
When we compare the projected increase in Africa and Asia by 2050 we see that percentages show the great speed of increase than other ones with 25% higher than 2007 whereas in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, Oceania increased slightly with 12%, 12%, 11% and 5%. However by 2050 more people will live in cities than Asia and Africa.
