My name is Carley Walters, and my pronouns are she/her/hers.  I am a Junior and my major is Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences/ Speech-Language Pathology.   My memory of childhood play was a time when I was about 6 years old. I had a play kitchen set, and I pretended that I was a chef at a restaurant and my mom was the customer.  I was very caught up in imagining my life as a chef and all of the steps that I needed to do to 'cook the food', and I even talked to my mom the way I heard waiters talking at restaurants like "Can I get you anything else?" and "How is everything?".  It is amazing the things children pick up and retain when adults think they are not consciously listening or paying attention.
