Who was Fredrick Douglass? Fredrick Douglass was a very impotent anti-slavery abolitionist, even tho he was born as a slave but escaped slavery in 1838. Douglass Mom was a slave but his father was his slave master. He only saw his mom 5 times in his Life. Douglass taught him self how to read and write. Fredrick Douglass was also a woman Right's abolitionist. Douglass first wife was black, but when she died he married a girl 20 years younger and she was white. A lot of people were angry about this even his own children were mad but he said "My Mom Was Black And My Dad Was White." Why is he important in American history? Douglass was most famous for showing how bad slavery was in word and speeches not violence if you ask me he is a lot like Dr. Marten Luther King Jr. He died at age 77.

Who was Fredrick Douglass? Fredrick Douglass was a anti-Slavery abolitionist. He also was an abolitionist for women rights to!Fredrick was born a slave but did not die a slave because he ran away. Its crazy because he only saw his mom 5 times his whole life!Fredrick never knew who is father was.Fredrick tough him self how to read and write because back then that was not aloud.White people did not want blacks to learn because then they could know how to run away or that slavery was wrong and to stand up for there rights. The good thing is that Fredrick learned that slavery was wrong with out even getting tough he knew what was right so he ran away to the north. He got help from friends and made it safely but he had to change his last name. Fredrick friend told him to do Douglas from a book he read but Fredrick added an S to make it different from others.

Frederick Douglass was an very important abolitionist in America to help show slaves the they were not being treated equally. Frederick Douglass was important to America history because he showed African-Americans they shouldn't be treated the way their slave masters were treating them he showed them not to be afraid to stand up for their rights. Frederick also helped slaves by giving them lectures and speeches to say the way people are treating you just because you have different race doesn't mean you have to bow down to them you are supposed to stand up for you're rights and your liberty and your justice and that's why Frederick Douglass is important to American History to this day. I think Frederick is very important because nobody was really their to show him that it wasn't right but as he grew older he saw how it wasn't right how African-Ameican's were being treated and he only saw his mom 5 times his whole life. Frederick Douglass even got to meet Abraham Lincoln because his speeches were so good and Abraham Lincoln admired that he wasn't afraid to stand out Frederick just wanted to Abolish Slavery. Then, on Janurary 31, 1865 the 13th amendment abolished slavery but did it help nope, the southern states said no we need our slaves so after South Carolina seceded, all the southern states seceded to keep slaves and secede from the United States. Later on Frederick Douglass's wife Anna Murray- Douglass Died. Frederick felt lonely so he decided to get married, so in 1884 Frederick got married to Helen-Pitts Douglass but most people weren't approved of it because, 1. she was white and 2. she was 20 years younger then Frederick Douglass!! Sadly, Frederick died right after a meeting of Women's Rights, he was 77 and died of a heart attack. And that's truly why Frederick Douglass in really important person in American history
