Relief and Revulsion

Thank goodness this dreadful war has finally come to an end! I don't think I could have taken much more of it. However, even with all the relief, as a loyalist, I am fuming with anger. The Americans have the nerve to not repay us or return our property that they ignorantly took, leaving some to
have to lament over the wreck of their departed wealth and estates! It just doesn't seem fair. At least a little good from the end of the war comes with this mess, although it certainly would have been great if we hadn't lost to our pitiful rivals.

-Loyalist

Independence is the best!

This everlasting war is over! I couldn't be happier. Who would have ever thought that we'd be able to win? Not even the fact that the British never returned our slaves or won't give us their military camps can ruin my mood. We're free from their grim rule, and that's all that matters to me. We worked hard for our independence, and it may be challenging at times to keep our country under control since thirteen wheels require a steady and powerful regulator to keep them in good order. Although a bit overwhelming, freedom is the best feeling I've ever felt!
-Patriot

Even after these conditions were published, neither Britain nor the states fully lived up to the treaty's terms. America never repaid debts or return the Loyalists' property. Britain did not return runaway slaves, and they refused to give up military outposts in the Great Lakes area. However, they did manage to follow the other conditions and fix those mistakes.
