Kino
1.) KINO The quote that best describes Kino is " Kino, in his pride and youth and strength, could remain down over two minutes without strain, so that he worked deliberately, selecting the largest shells."  Kino can be described as strong, courageous, but shy at the same time.  Kino at the beginning of the story is more naive and innocent as toward the end of the story Kino is ashamed and experienced.
2.) Kino, Juana, and Coyotito are a happy, but they are a poor family until the discovery of the pearl throws them into the sudden possibility of wealth. Kino is so focused on the riches the pearl can offer; he doesn't realize the harm that is happening toward him and his family. Today people are trapped in greed and ambition. Although they are poor they are relatively happy.
Rising action- Coyotito is bitten by a scorpion. His parents don't have enough money, so they go out into the ocean to find a pearl. He finds the Pearl of The World. Kino goes to the village to try to sell the pearl. All the pearl buyers disagree on the price that Kino wants.
Climax-  Kino ends up killing a man that intentionally tried to attack him to steal the pearl. Kino and his family are on the run.
Falling Action- Kino's family set out to the mountains to get to the capital. Kino realizes he is being followed and tries to create false tracks. The moment he is able to attack the trackers  he hears a gun shot. After he kills the trackers he rushes back the cave to find out that Coyotito was shot.
Resolution- Carrying their dead child, they return from the mountain to their village, where the towns people quietly look on. It is referring to how she was just as strong as a man.
     Metaphor- "He was an animal now, for hiding, for attacking, and he lived only to preserve himself and his family." It shows that he is acting like a animal.
      Personification- "And the beauty of the pearl, winking and glimmering in the light of the little candle." It is saying that the pearl is very pretty.
      Simile-"The pearl is like fools gold." The dealer calls his pearl fools gold to represent its not worth anything.
      Alliteration- "A stout slow man sat in an office waiting. The man is described as big and slow.
      Onomatopoeia- "...And the owls screeched and hissed over their heads. And once some large animal lumbered away, crackling the undergrowth as it went." The story is showing what sounds the owl makes using onomatopoeia.
