The women of the 1930s were the cornerstone of a household. They often went unnoticed. In the1930's women did have rights, but not as many as men did. This could have been the main cause of curley's wife loneliness and isolation

During / after the Great Depression, women had more involvement in society and fought together to have a voice in politics. Curley's wife did not have a chance to do this due to the fact that she was the only women in Soledad. This means that she was unable to have another women to help her get rights. In effect this would make her feel lonely because she doesn't have any freedom where as other women would start to be getting thei
