My Attestations of Learning on How to become a Professional Teacher

The quote sums up everything that I learned throughout the semester in The Teaching Profession subject. A teacher plays a very vital role in shaping the lives of the young learners. It is among the most demanding yet rewarding professions, in my opinion. I am aware that being a teacher comes with a lot of responsibility, and that's why as early as now, I am willing to learn and maximize my time as a pre-service teacher so I'll be able to bear those responsibilities with pride and joy.

The three concepts that struck me the most were the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, The Magna Carta for Public School Teachers (RA 4670), and Teachers’ Rights, Duties, and Responsibilities—The Education Act of 1982 (BP 232). (BP 232). These three concepts are incredibly important to understand and learn by heart as a pre-service teacher since they are foundational knowledge that I can bring with me all throughout my teaching career.

The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers is the first concept. This lesson struck me in such a way that it broadens my perspective on teachers' primary obligations to their students and establishes our role in their lives. Teaching is considered by others as the most noble profession therefore every teacher shall maintain the finest standards of quality education, shall make the best measures for their teaching career, and shall give his/her best at all times and in the practice of his/her profession—this is how The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers comes into play.

The third concept that struck me is the Teachers’ Rights, Duties, and Responsibilities—The Education Act of 1982 (BP 232). This lesson has my piqued my interest, especially as it serves as a sort of summary for the first and second concepts I mentioned before. As pre-service teacher, it is vital for me to fully understand my rights, duties and responsibilities for me to become an effective teacher someday. Teachers don't just educate by the book but also impart learning experiences that a student can bring wherever he/she goes. However, a teacher cannot decide what's good for his/her student but rather pave the way for them to accomplish their particular aspirations. That's why as much as possible we should know where we stand in the lives of our students which we can learn in the Education Act of 1982(BP 232). (BP 232).

This is how I define The Teaching Profession:

T- The bearer of practical and contextual knowledge
E- Encouraging the students to identify ways that will make positive impact to the community
A- Acknowledging the learners' different needs, interests and learning styles
C- Creating a healthy and conducive learning environment
H-Helping the students realize their dreams and potentials
I- In a not judgmental but motivating way
N-Nurturing effective and active teaching-learning interaction
G- Going and extending influence beyond the classroom

P-Promoting inclusivity and equality in the learning space
R- Rather than discrimination and favoritism
O-Opting to use professional approach at all times
F- Following the ethical standards of educators
E- Ensuring the quality education
S-Supporting learners to achieve their academic success
S- Setting realistic goals and objectives
I- In teaching their various specializations
O- On the four walls of the classroom
N- Normally base on the four basic values: dignity, integrity, fairness, and responsibility

Talking about excellent and quality teaching, I genuinely appreciate our professor in this subject Mr. Erwin Corales for his unceasing effort to teach us the different topics contained in The Teaching Profession subject and also imparting valuable knowledge and learning experiences that will surely help us in our teaching career. In God’s will, if I will become a teacher soon, I want to be as committed and sincere to my work as Mr. Corales. I'm grateful that I was able to come across with a great professor like him which I can look up to. He truly embodies what a great educator should be. Also, I am grateful to my classmates who were with me throughout this semester. They add color and gradient to my learning journey.

"Obtain higher education degree,
to lead with proficiency"
