Used - Colour

For all the panels in my digipak, I have used bold, eye catching colours to match the theme and narrative of my music video. The pop genre is commonly known for the use of colour, therefore I wanted to include this particular convention within my digipak. A colour that has been used throughout the digipak are tones of yellows, particularly as a highlight on our artist. I decided to include this colour multiple times as it has connotations with joy and happiness, which relates to our music video and the narrative behind it. Also, it gives the audience a hint as to what this artist is like and the songs they produce, which reflects their brand identity.

From previous brand research, I learnt that a lot of artists within the pop genre use very basic, bold fonts, for example, Justin Bieber's logo is a modern, simple text. I wanted to stick to this common convention as I believed it would make the text stand out from the background, and also be easy to read for the audience. Also, the binary opposite shown with the black background and white title font allows the text style of the font to stand out even more, due to the contrasting colours.

Challenged - Low-Key Lighting

Similarly to our music video and digipak poster, I decided to use low-key lighting throughout my entire digipak for various reasons. Firstly, the colours used within my panels are very bright, and the low-key lightings help makes them stand out even more. Secondly, when doing the photoshoot for the digipak, the shadows on our artist's face is a lot more effective, and helps blend in with the dark background. Finally, I incorporated the ink brushes as I wanted to include the powder paint elements from our music video into the panels. Therefore, having a dark background/low-key lighting helped draw more attention to the powder explosions and smoke - making it more eye-catching and attractive for the audience.

Due to colour being a common theme within the pop genre, I made sure to include a unique and different approach to express colour. The doodles provide personal feel to the digipak, alongside expressing movements within the image - for example, using lines above the artist's hands to represent him clicking his fingers. By using multiple coloured lines and other hand drawn elements draws attraction to the main image of the front cover, especially since they act as an outline around it.

Due to pop being the most common genre within the music industry, it uses a variety of mainstream sites to promote songs. Therefore, I included a hashtag that can be used on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the audience to use to make the song go trending. This is a very popular way of promoting due to the fact social medias are easily assessable, meaning products can be delivered to a wider audience and all demographics - increasing its reach.

Used - Music Platforms

Similarly to the reasoning behind including social medias, there are numerous well known music platforms that have developed so the audience can either listen or watch the music video to the song. The most common platform, as learnt from research, is Youtube. This is because anyone can access it, whatever the demographic. Therefore, I made sure to include logos from Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud and Youtube, as these are the most mainstream sites people use to access and listen to music.

From previous research on digipak posters, I gained a better understanding on how artist's express their identity within the poster. However, I rarely came across a logo that the audience would instantly recognise on posters. By having the artist's logo on the poster, this therefore makes the artist distinguishable and offers interaction with the audience.

Challenged - Positioning of Main Image

Looking at past examples of digipak posters, I noted that the main image within the poster was typically in the centre and takes up the majority of the frame. I went against this convention as my artist is off centre of the overall poster, alongside the size of him not being too large. Not only was this to emphasise the doodles around the artist, but also to make the titles and information appear bold, particularly against the black background.
