APPLICATION DUE: extended until filled

Teens will earn service learning hours, learn leadership skills, gain mentorship from Library leaders and board members, and contribute to teen initiatives at the Pratt Library.

Applicants accepted to this program will have the opportunity to earn 26 service learning hours, with the possibility for more hours through attending extra events and activities.

Use this site to help come up with ideas, or put your own spin on something that has been done in the past.

Family Services

• There are many ways to continue showing up during this time.  

  • The weather is still fine for a car wash!  Come clean vehicles used for child transport.

  • Work in the garden, beautify the nature trail, do some fall planting

  • Books and Buddies - a virtual reading partnership with children

  • Make creative videos to share. Teach a yoga class, a drawing tutorial, music trivia - have fun! Check out more opportunities here.

Best Buddies (work with peers with Special Needs)

Currently recruiting 10 more students to assist one day after school (Wed or Thurs 4-5pm) per week doing crafts and activities with an assigned "Best Buddy Family" including a special needs student, aide, college student & yourself.

Ask Ms. Reid to sign up for the next info session ASAP!

2) Join the Y in Central Maryland as a Youth Sports Coach or Referee!
Coach or Assist: Lead or support youth in sports such as basketball, soccer, and flag football.

Must attend at least 10 shifts across five weeks. See link for scheduling.

Earn SLHs by planning and participating in activities such as:

• Sustainable Art (recycled materials)

• Host group discussions re: environmental justice, sustainability, water preservation, etc.

• School-wide Recycling campaign 

• School Community Cleanup

• Have students sign the Pledge cards

• Gardening

• Career Day with green jobs
