Sacagawea was a part of the Lewis and Clark expedition which was taking place during 1806. She helped them communicate and travel to many villages. Some villages they went to were the Mandan and Hidatsa Villages and they also traveled eastward to St. Louis.

John C. Calhoun was a vice president of the U.S. He was a candidate for vice president in 1824 but sought vice presidency instead. He later served as vice president from 1825-1829.

The Underground railroad lasted a long time, including the late 1830s. Many notable people such as Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman contributed to the undergorund railroad. The Undeground Railroad also lasted many years after the 1830s.

The Indian Removal Act was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830. It authorized the president to grant land west of Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands within the existing state borders. Many agreed to this, but many also did not want to give up their homeland.

Abraham Lincoln worked for the Illinois state legislature in 1842. Lincoln finished his fourth term in the legislature in 1842. He also married Mary Todd in 1842 where they later had their first child.

The California Gold Rush started on January 24, 1848 and ended in 1855. It brought over 300,000 people to California from different parts of the U.S. to find gold. The gold was first found by James W. Marshall and the news quickly spread.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was an act made on May 30, 1854 and it was also called "Bleeding Kansas". This Act repealed the Missouri Compromise, created two new territories, and allowed for popular sovereignty. This Act also decided it slaves/slavery would be allowed within a new state border.

Frederick Douglass was a very influential figure in the 1860s. On December 3, 1860, Frederick Douglass and a group of his fellow abolitionists met at a Church in Boston and Discussed How slavery could be abolished. He also gave many speeches in 1860 such as "The Constitution of the United States: is it pro-slavery or anti-slavery?" Which was made on March 26, 1860.
