         <description><![CDATA[<div>Questions:</div><ul><li>To what degree are we continuing with old model? what might new model look like?&nbsp;<ul><li>Will be a blend, more focused on what clients need and based on what has been most effective</li></ul></li><li>Would work extend beyond NC?<ul><li>Focused in NC first, but also looking to some of the other expansion states that we were working with, at least in the first year. Will eventually be pursuing a broader approach</li><li>Will aim to start small</li></ul></li><li>Is RTI providing start up funding?<ul><li>Yes, at this point contracting as with a small team as part time contractors; providing space as well and back end administrative functions</li><li>Expect a blend of some full time employees, some part time&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Contractor means what?<ul><li>contracted employees, would be employed through a staffing agency</li><li>Could also contract with individuals with own LLCs, etc.</li></ul></li><li>Service model have three buckets, PL, Coaching, Consulting? How are they connected and how determined?<ul><li>Felt like the three buckets that old work was closest connected to and that aligned with RTI's strategy</li><li>Still many unknowns about the work and how the specifics of the service model get fleshed out</li><li>Not going to tell someone "yes" until we know we have a strong talent bench</li><li>Feel like the consulting bucket will become a larger element of work</li><li>Much of this could be in semantics</li></ul></li><li>Has RTI expressed whether more interested in former talent or new personnel?<ul><li>RTI wants our former staff</li><li>RTI does not have a current unit that does this sort of work</li><li>Need to have a good fit based on the work that is acquired</li></ul></li><li>Who is part of the small team at RTI<ul><li>All 30 hours or less (part time and temporary contractors)</li><li>Angela, Laurie, Jodi, Joe, Edna, Kayla</li></ul></li><li>Email being sent will also go to former staff</li><li>Relationship with Bridgewood<ul><li>Positive about the work, but will be a contracted vendor, so would indeed be seeking many of the same kinds of work</li></ul></li><li>DPI relationship?<ul><li>Aim to partner with DPI at some level - DPI more focused on technical elements, we aim to do more of the service delivery</li><li>Many other partners would be engaged, university system, community colleges, etc</li></ul></li><li>Priority given to NCNS employees?<ul><li>Yes, based on expertise - able to start fast and start small</li><li>Based on fit and the work we are able to get secured</li></ul></li><li>Can you talk about USDOE's reluctance?<ul><li>They are probably feeling a little wary after awarding 20M grant to a now bankrupt organization</li><li>Could be a year, we just don't know yet. Laurie and Angela pushing forward to try to get answers as soon as possible</li></ul></li><li>New organization, but as we get lumped in with other competitors, what is the driving purpose? Mission and vision was compelling as NCNS, how might that translate?<ul><li>RTI mission to "improve the human condition by turning knowledge into practice"</li><li>RTI does a lof of work in different practice areas</li><li>RTI been focused in education in third world countries in the past</li><li>Education is means to improving the human condition</li><li>Do a lot of education research; interested in being able to better turn that into practitioner work</li><li>Large organization, but feel mission and stewardship is a match</li></ul></li><li>Is there an assumption that would not have a decision made until mid August?<ul><li>No, staffing will completely depend on when we are able to sign agreements; aim to hire once get agreements in place</li><li>Could be sooner, but service delivery would not start until August</li></ul></li><li>What is the staffing process? Would it all happen before end of July?<ul><li>Will aim to move on things sooner if we can</li><li>Dont envision interview process for former NCNS employees</li></ul></li><li>When would those who are going to be hired know?<ul><li>Difficult to know - ambiguity right now and would hate to give firm dates until we are able to see what the staffing model looks like once contracts come in</li></ul></li><li>What do we call this?<ul><li>RTI international</li><li>rti.org</li><li>Be a division/dept. within the Education/Workforce Development unit</li></ul></li><li>How do we get hired? do we need to all have LLCs?<ul><li>No - do not need to have LLC</li><li>They use a contract staffing organization</li><li>Let team know if you are interested in the work - this is startup, will be ambiguous,&nbsp;</li><li>There is no office right now, all remote</li></ul></li><li>To express interest, can we just respond to the letter?<ul><li>Yes, that's fine to just reply to angela</li><li>email will be on the letter</li></ul></li><li>Mentioned that working remote currently and that when thinking about candidates to hire that mix of skills/fit; if people brought on board, would have option to work remotely or can live anywhere?<ul><li>For now, would have to be remote employees, work from home, or whereever</li><li>Would be remote employment</li><li>At some point will likely have home unit, but RTI is oriented around a remote workforce</li><li>Expected to go to where the work is</li><li>Aiming to reduce travel and trying to better use technology; price has to bear what we can offer</li></ul></li></ul><div><br><br><br></div><div><br>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
