Musical theatre became popular starting in the 1900s, and was revolutionized in the 1940s by R&H's Oklahoma!
Stephen Sondheim then broke into the scene and created complex scores and lyrics that upgraded the pieces on Broadway.

4.

I like how you responded to Question, how you're doing musical theater compositions because that's "both theater and music".

Good contextual history in Question 3.

So you're doing an analysis on Sondheim's music to determine why it's impactful? How his compositions depict emotion, plot, and characterization. Your research question is quite clear. That's good!

How many of Sondheim's pieces will you analyze? You're analyzing it's relationship to the theater right? So like, how music affects the production, what effects it has on the audience right? That's really cool, I was considering doing something like that too!

It's good that you have a fairly solid basis , and you know pretty much exactly what you want to do.

I would just say make sure you have a wide variety of sources, and put in a bit more focus into what you actually want to say in your explanations and analysis--for example, how are you going to structure a paper written completely on how something conveys emotion?

Overall, great job!
