Yulia Efimova, the most famous swimmer in Russia. She swallowed fire and water, refusal to participate in the Olympics, suspicion of doping. But all this only hardened the athlete. Each time, the RSA proved that it is able to be itself, to fight lies. And today I would like to tell you about the three most famous facts about Yulia Efimova, who do not know much

The way of the nomad
The famous swimmer was born in the Chechen Republic, in the city of Grozny. At the beginning of the Chechen campaign, Yulia's father (Andrey Mikhailovich Efimov) decided to take the family away from the danger zone. At the age of two, Efimova found herself in Volgodonsk, where she took the first steps towards a career as a swimmer. At some point, Yulia outgrew the possibilities of a small town – a novice swimmer had to go to major competitions, the Russian championships, but the family did not have the finances for this. For this reason, Efimova missed several major starts. But the desire to win still turned out to be stronger than financial difficulties: at the age of 13, Yulia moved to Taganrog, where there were not only large swimming pools, worthy rivals, but also coach Irina Vyatchanina, who saw a huge potential in the young athlete. The swimmer trained in the United States for a long time, but in 2016 she was forced to return to Russia due to a doping scandal. Since 2018, Efimova has been living and training in the United States again under the guidance of the great coach Dave Salo.

Pink is the color of victory.
At the beginning of her career, Efimova went to competitions with a mascot-a pink stuffed rabbit. With age, the toy lost its status and gave way to a pink Speedo hat. Yulia notes that the toy has taken pride of place in her home in Russia. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the athlete was not allowed to swim in a pink cap because of special criteria for equipment. But the athlete deftly got out of the situation-put on a pink cap under a black one and swam to victory. After this incident, Efimova was given a personalized cap that fully meets the standards. The epic with the cap did not end there: at one of the starts, the famous mascot was stolen from the athlete, but this did not prevent her from winning. As Efimova herself says: "It is impossible for an athlete to have a talisman and believe in objects. Man makes things, not man's things."

Love for quadrupeds
Yulia Efimova has been very fond of animals since childhood. In her early years, she often brought home stray kittens and puppies. For many years, a mongrel with puppies, a cat with kittens, and small black rats lived in the Efimov house. Efimova's childhood was spent in a cheerful company of four-legged friends. Now Tatiana Efimova lives with the granddaughter of the same dog that Yulia found on the street.
